The Dihlabeng Canoe Club was created in 2006 and now has more than 50 active members, two coaches working full-time and about 20 kayaks. Based at the heart of the Bohlokong Township (Bethlehem / Free State) this special club focuses on social, educational and sport-based objectives.

2008 was a great year for the club since two of our young athletes, trained in Bohlokong, where able to participate in the African National Slalom Championships organised in Kenya! This first trip outside of the township and the qualification of Cyprian Ngidi and Siboniso Cele (the two coaches) for the Olympic Games show all the young club members that there isn’t a dream not worth believing in and striving for, wherever one comes from.
